Ecotone (CDr)
Format: CDr
Release Date: June 2010
Release is limited to 100 copies.
One might already know that an Ecotone is a transitional area between two different ecosystems, such as a forest and a grassland. In landscape ecology, an Ecotone is the border area where two patches meet that have different ecological composition. This version of Ecotone is Tim Foljahn and Kirsten McCord. While this release explores the subtleties and nuances of electronic notation drone, sweeping melodies, ominous tones and midnight Parisian disco dreams, the focus of this release displays the composer sides of Tim and Kirsten; both of whom have an enormous list of collaborations under their belts - including Tim's work with Two Dollar Guitar, Mosquito, Cat Power, Thurston Moore, Townes Van Zandt, Boredoms, and Megan Reilly. Kirsten has also kept busy over the years working with Elliott Smith, Rex, Azalia Snail, Sunburned Hand of the Man, Vic Chesnutt, Wharton Tiers Project, Home, and Perhaps Transparent's own Pothole Skinny.
