Film Synopsis:
Bernard wants to go to Egypt more than anything else in the world. In order to make money and fulfill his lifelong dream, he must first take part in a bizarre medical experiment involving synthetic blood. While undergoing treatments, Bernard meets Helen, a friendly and modest motel maid. They go out for fun things like bingo and karaoke. Unfortunately, synthetic blood is slowly driving Bernard mad...

Curse of the Seven Jackals was filmed around Athens, Georgia on black-and-white 16mm, using the outdated technique of recording optical sound directly onto the film. With titles shot off video monitors and an original, strangely minimalist score, Curse of the Seven Jackals attains a beautifully simple lo-fi look and atmosphere that suits the dilapidated Southern surroundings and interiors where the film takes place. Working without a crew and living a motel room, secretly shooting without the knowledge of the motel staff, Jolly was able to finish shooting in just under 2 weeks.

"Synthetic blood is real. Currently scientists are working on creating a synthetic blood substitute, which will replace the need for human blood donors. At this moment it is being tested on laboratory animals and should be out on the market in just a few years. It is unknown what affect synthetic blood could have on the human brain, but it is said to increase the amount of oxygen in the blood stream. " - C. Jolly
